Had a go tonight with the 100-400 and a 1.4 TC.
A bit of trial and error to find a decent exposure, anyway this is it.

Nice one Cameron, I like it. Looks like the TC gave you a larger image than I got.

I like it a lot. Next time take one that isn't of a full moon... 3/4 and 1/2 moons are way more interesting to look at. :)

You can even see the 'W' (http://reductionism.net.seanic.net/bruce.gary/AstroPhotos/moon/dubya.htm) in the rabbit's neck. (Doesn't everyone see the rabbit in the moon? Turn your head 45 degrees to the right. It's a much better percept than a man, from a Rorschach POV. )

Wonderful shot, I didn't get anywhere near as good result using the exact same gear. Bravo! Did you crop the shot any?

Just think, if man has his way, someday someone will be taking shots of the earth FROM the moon and talking about how great it looks, and wondering if anyone ever lived there!!! Lol!!
Richard

Very nice. Reminds me that I should attempt this again soon with my 300 f/4 IS with the 1,4x extender.

Tommy, I took some shots with that very combo and the difference was very slight. In fact I was unsure which to post.
I've only had the 300 f/4 IS for a few days and haven't had a real chance to put it to work. However I've rented a cottage in the English Lake District for a week in April and will check the lens out then.

First impression are very good.
