Help! I've had my D30 for about 1 week. I'm trying to delet images from ZoomBrowser EX, but it gives me an Error Code - 25 message and closes out ZoomBrowser. Then it's almost as though my system drags. The only way to restore my computer to normal is to shut down and restart, if it hasn't already done that itself! Please help! I am new to all this digital camera and computer stuff so please take it easy and I do mean easy on the terminology. Thanks in advance for your help!

The best answer (without technobabble) is to forget the software. I tried using it when I first got my D30 and found it to be slow and screwd-up, plus it's a pain in the ass. No body wants this crap! As most people will tell you, Canon software sucks.

Solution: Get a card reader and download direct to your imaging program or whatever. I use "Irfan View" for this and then save/open to my external photo program. It's fast and super easy. The best part is the program is it's FREEEEEEEEE. Go to www.irfanview.com for the download. It's even "small" enuf to save to a floppy. NO PROBLEM HERE.

If you follow this set-up you'll find yourself in Digital Heaven. Even a dummy like me can do this, not to infer that you're a dummy too.

Hope this helps,
Gary

I agree with Gary. Personnally, I also use a usb card reader. I use Acdsee 5 to view all my pics and of course the almost unavoidable Photoshop 7.

Another ditto. Hard to believe how bad Canon's s/w really is. Their loss is Chris Breeze's gain. I couldn't shoot RAW until I got BreezeBrowser at: http://www.breezesys.com

Gary - Thanks for the info. Any suggestions on card readers and where to purchase?
Also, I've heard that BreezeBrowser is really good and cost only $35. Just wondering what to do, because most card readers I've been directed to are over $35.
Any further advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Nate,

Get BreezeBrowser with or without a card reader, it will work with only the camera. Also get from the BB site, the FREE utility Downloader (also works with CF reader or camera).

I got the ZiO! CF reader in San Francisco last year for around 30 bucks, can't believe they've got up that much, but it's been hassle free.

Roger - Thanks for the info. I just downloaded the trail version of BreezeBrowser and toyed with it a little. It looks pretty simple. I'm not sure how I go about transferring all the raw files I have in ZoomBrowser though. It's probably something simple; but like I've stated before, I am new to this computer stuff. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Funny, I hear a lot of talk about ZB and BB. I use ZoomBrowzer 3.2 and don't have any problems at all. just lucky Ay. I guess when it lets me down I might have to spend money for something different but for now I will just keep on ZZZZZoomin'

Zoom worked fine for me until it let me delete 2 full folders of images without warning. It is on my hit list for sure. I did manage to undelete the images but I lost about 10 or so. I am now using thumbs and Photo Shop 7.0 (I don't shoot raw much yet so not sure how that impacts my current setup) good luck!
