Hi there.

Ok I had an accident and broke the shoe on my Sigma 500 Super Flash. I've read about people with the canon 550EX and getting the replacement. it sounds great a $5 part.

However I've contacted Gentec (the company that deals with Sigma in Canada here) and they want $50 for the part and another $50 to install!

I thought this was outrageous! Does anyone know if it can be obtained for less? Can i use the 550 replacement on my sigma? (they're both a canon mount right?)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

go to the sigma website and contact one of their service warehouses. that's what i did for my canon. Im sure sigma will do it for you as well.

I broke at least 10 of them (plastic gets really bad when it's cold :) ). Here in Slovenia, it's about $35 to change it (parts and work) for Sigma and a bit more for Canon.

i emailed sigma and they sold me one for $10US plus $5 shipping. i changed it myself, it took about 10 minutes.

i thought about buying two, but i bought another flash instead. they do seem to break at the worst times--like a week before a paying gig.
