Hello, I'm in the market for a flash for my XTi, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with either a 430ex or 430ex II. I'm basically trying to figure out if the extra $65 for the 430exII is worth it.
On a XTi,
1) will there be any noticable difference between the two flashes?
2) will there be an in-camera flash menu when these flashes are attached?
Your answers are appreciated, as always. And if you have any opinions or input, please share! Thanks in advance for your help.

The 430EX does NOT work with the in-camera menu. The 430EX II does.
In your case the XTi doesn't have in-camera menu, but I would still recommend the 430EX II because you will probably upgrade your camera one day. edit: (I think your G10 has the in-camera flash menu)
If you have one of the newer Digic III or IV cameras ( 40D, 50D, XSi, XS, 5D mkII, etc) that have the in-camera flash menu, you should really get the newer flash to go with it. Using the in-camera flash menu is so much easier and probably will lead to a greater understanding of what you are trying to accomplish.

If that isn't enough, here are a few more reasons:
1) Metal Hotshoe
2) Quick release mechanism
3) Silent recycle
4) Faster recycle
5) FEC adjusted in 1/3 stop increments
6) Nine Custom Functions (vs 6 on 430EX)

I have a short article about the differences between 430EX and 430EX II:
