I use the Wimberly II as well and came from the original. If I had to do it over again I might have bought the Mongoose. It has a smaller profile, is lighter in weight, less expensive and built well.

Have had a look at the Jobu Design one, their heavy duty gimbal can be convered into a sidekick by swapping the plates over.See link below.
