Forgive me if this is a stupid question. But, I'm new to digital photography and need to know the answer. I thought this would be the best place to post this. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a G3 for the US market and a G3 for Japan market? Will the software that is packaged be different? Will the camera itself be different? What about the flash (i.e., 420EX or 550EX). Are there differences.
Thank you.

Mainly the price, I would imagine (more expensive in Japan despite the fact that they are made here). Also the user manual will be in Japanese. The camera itself is multilingual, so I doubt there would be a Japanese version, but who knows? I live in Japan and bought mine in New York on the internet for about 30% less even after shipping.

My mom brought home a G3 for my dad and I. It was 5,160.00 HKD = 661.625 USD out the door. It was from a reputable camera store franchise. Warranty claims, I would have to send the camera back to Asia. The manual was english, but the store also threw in a Chinese set. Oh and aren't the manuals available in PDF format on the Canon website?
They threw in a 256Mb Sandisk card.
A Fleece Vest.
One of those mini table camera stands.
A cheap camera bag good for just the camera.
A lens micro fibre cloth.
Power plugs for every asian/north american country.
***Instead of the bag, you can get 48 regular prints.
10% off additional accessories
If you bought it grey mkt, it would be about $4500 HKD. The camera is displayed in saranwrap and there isn't warranty. No additional access. Maybe some lense cloth.
I would buy it in the States next time. Shipping the camera under warranty to asia is pricey.

Thanks for the response. The reason that I originally posted the question was because I had a contact in Asia that said he could get the camera cheap. I decided to buy one here in the US instead. I got mine for $649.00 at the time. I figured, I wanted a warranty if I spent that much money.
Thanks again.
