Everything you could want in a mini dslr: articulating LCD, lightweight = portable, pretty decent sharp photos (if you pixel peep though, you can see where the IQ falls short), external hotshoe, mini hdmi (woot woot ), there's a sensor below the eyepiece that turns off your lcd when shooting through the EVF, 3fps
why you wouldn't want to jump on the g1....
it's the first generation. no movie mode, limited lens selection, iso usable range is to 1600, better than the iso 400 that the sx10 and sx1, but definitely aimed at entry level dslrs.
so compared to the sx10, you definitely get a faster fps however compared to the sx1, the g1 loses to the sx1's well-rounded ness. sure the g1 has slightly sharper and contrasty images, but it sure as heck doesn't have HD video recording, 20x tele and wide angle capability, nor canon's quality customer service.
if the next generation G series has more additional lenses and features, it might be more desirable to pull the sx users over due to one sole reason: Image quality. that's my take.
