I have a few electronic music instruments that have hidden functions or diagnostics if certain sequences or combinations of button presses are executed. For instance, " Press and hold button "A" while powering up the keyboard". This may get me to a diagnostics mode to check overall health of the instrument or perform some tests. The manufacturers do warn that some of these hidden functions can cause misoperation or other problems if not used with care.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any hidden functions on the 300D or 20D that might reveal a diagnostic, test, or calibration mode.

I've not heard of anything like that on Canon cameras.

In computer software terminology, those are called Easter Eggs. I suppose that this is a good time to look for them.

I have read that there are some hidden sequences that do cause the camera to go into maintenance mode. In maintenance mode, it causes the owner to pack up the camera and send it back to Canon (along with a credit card number) to be taken out of maintenance mode.

I'm not sure what the sequence are though, but I'm sure they can't be that hard to find if you try.
