I just installed EE last night and...wow. Great stuff!

Here's my only issue I can't figure out so far: I want to have different sizes of my pictures. A smaller version for quick browsing, and a larger version. The instructions covered making the paths for both, and I did so.

Now, I upload the larger version, but I never get a smaller one. The path is there, but it doesn't do anything with it. How do I get it to resize a smaller (800 pixel) version and display it as default and have a link to a larger version. I've seen other peoples galleries with this done, so I know it's my screw up here.

You must have the Small version named Dedfault, first.

Here is what I do to help save server upload time, and to cut down on possible theft of high res images.

I do all my editing in PS.

At First I had three image sizes but I found this to be overkill and scaled it down to just two, 600 and 300.

I Resize all images to my largest size in EE to 800 pixels at the largest length, and inlclude my watermarks on the 800 pixels images, since I like to have more control than the EE method.

Here is what my resize methods and paths look like. Hope this helps

Here's what my paths look like:

For some reason, the default methodsusedin won't do anything but ---. I want it to display the 800 pixel images first, and give users the option to load the 1024 version. I've tried switching the default path to no avail.

Where do you upload your images to? Maybe I'm putting them in the wrong place. When I upload the full size versions, I put them in my "big" directory.

This is driving me nuts!

Thats the problem.

Put them in the InPut/Upload folder, then EE will see them and you will be able to resize them

I'm still not getting this to work. When I upload the photos, I have the option to put them in either the normal or the big directory. If I put them in both, I have two images showing in my gallery, just different sizes.

What I want is similar to your gallery. You have the pulldown to pick small or default image size for each image. I can't get it to work...I'm about to give up.

Don't Give up

When you upload them from the External FTP or Internal FTP, they need to be placed in the /www/gallery/input/UPLOAD folder. Not in any image size folders.

Are you using and FTP program or the internal FTP? It seems like you are using an external FTP.

do you have AIM? if so contact me : sigmanuek

This is a very helpful thread!
say, where do the watermark images go? I seem to have lost the ability to add a watermark?

thanks

Watermark images are in watermarks folder in your input directory.
