I've bought a few sample packs of Hahnemuhle papers, downloaded some ICC profiles and have tried printing but am not sure what paper to set the printer to. I use a hp designjet 130nr and an Epson 4000.
I have tried hp premium glossy on the hp printer and it was OK but the colours were a bit muted.
The other question is how do you tell which side of the paper is the side to print on?
I know you guys will be able to help!
Cheers
Wendy

Wendy, check this link. It should help at least with the 4000. Also a good place to purchase supplies also. OOps, forgot to paste the link. Here it is: http://www.inkjetart.com/profiles/paper.html

Hi bodog,
Thanks for the above, it was some help but I still don't know what paper setting or which side of the paper is which - there is no discernable colour difference.

Click on the "settings" link for the printer's paper setting. Clicking on the 4000 settings for the Photorag shows the paper type to be enhanced matte. Not sure about the print side problem. The packaging is usually marked in some way. You might also try checking the two sides in a bright light; the print side is usually smoother and whiter. Takes a little trial and error to tell. Look at it from different angles to the light.

I've just found an interesting article on this subject in Digital Camera Magazine. www.dcmag.co.uk page 070.

Hi Wendy, usually on the photo rag 308 the printed side is usually up the best way they recomend is moisten your finger tip lightly, the side that sticks is the coated side . also wendy check into breathing colors canvas in my epson 4000 it is incredible and they will seny you free samples to try and their profiles work great. Cheers John,
I have today received a roll of canvas from breathing colors, they also have some special offers on at the moment and if you are in the UK they are looking for someone to be their UK stockist.
Cheers
Wendy
