I got my XSI back in August and am still in the process of learning it. All of these shots I had to take pretty quickly due to being in the way of cars passing by or driving by them. I still use my kit lense *waiting to buy ne lenses with tax money* Please let me know what you think. These are just some random shots, definetly not my favs or best.
DFW National Cemetary (we were driving and I had to shoot this out the window)

Why bother to put up your 'random' shots/not favorite/not best? Sorry, but that really hit my nerve. If you're going to put your mediocre shots to be critiqued, (and you know you have better ones) why even bother? It felt like you were trying to tell us that you are much better than this, then show it? If this is the extent of your skill right now, it's fine, no one is going to judge you. You're still learning things, so am I. I put out my best work to be critiqued, try to improve. The generous people who help critique my work put their best effort into helping me approve I appreciate it very much! They deserve my best. I hope you'll understand (:
I love #3! The colors work very well, the flower and the clothing. It would have been nice to blur out the background more (a bit distracting) by shooting at a higher aperture.
Well done!
p.s. are those fabric flowers?

I also prefer it with pwerlines edited out. Not bad for a drive by good composition.

+1
#1: subject matter's in shadow, swinging unusually low into the frame, can't see that you've optimised the capture of interest than the place inherently had.
#2: here you may have optimised the subject's features - truly hideous...
#3: good picture... I like the enhanced contrast and texture in the face, although it's not textbook or as "flattering" it emphasises details of the expression and that's more important to telling a story...
#4: ummm... fair enough...
#5: Reasonable idea. Touch blown. Interesting statue and I'd have preferred to see more of it as subject rather than the juxtaposition with the "fur" dominating.
Cheers, Tony
