I'm looking to get a new digital camera, basically something like the S30/S40/S45 (the other ones I'm considering are Sony P71, P9, Minolta Dimage F100/ Xi).

I was wondering if there's a huge difference between the S40 and the new S45 in peoples opinions here?

Also I'm actually in the UK, and will be travelling through Los Angeles International next weekend, so I was wondering if there are shops that are likely to have the S40/45 in stock and for how much they would be? Finally is this shop likely to be open at about 10.00pm?

Also, will the warranty still be valid in the UK?

Difference in s40 and s45 is not that different in term of image quality. But it processed image faster, has MUCH better manual focus function, more manual control, and MUCH better menu lay out. Good manual focus and good menu layout is a killer feature for me.

Other that that, they're pretty much like a twin to me.

If you are also considering Sony P- series, you'd better try and compare the camera yourself. Note the timing they take, starting from pressing the shutter until an image is capture (use flash!). But it will be a different story with F- series.

Sorry that I can't help you with other questions.
