Alaska has lots of wildlife, but the musk ox is certainly one of the stranger animals there. They can survive well above the Arctic Circle, where temps go very, very low. Their dense fur keeps them warm, and they are able to scratch through snow and ice to find lichens and such for their food. The eagle is a juvenile bald eagle, just starting to get its white feathers that we all recognize.

Nice shots Stan. Not often you get to see photos of muskox :D

Nice shots. I have to ask, though, does that muskox have a purplish tint to it, or is it my monitor?

Thanks fellas. AFC, I can see why you ask about the tint. My monitor is a laptop LCD, so I'm never quite confident of color. However, it looks to me that it's the natural reddish color of the musk ox fur. I'll play with it to see if it needs some work.

Don't worry about it Stan. I'm sure my monitor is in dire need of calibration. I'm at work, so I have to deal with what I've got in front of me.
