What is Image Ready in PS?

I have been useing PS/E for a while and just received CS as a gift.

It contains what appears to be a separate application called Image Ready. Could someone please explain this app, and it's role?

It's an add-on that helps with Web images. It has several Web-specific things like the ability to create buttons & roll-overs, as well as slicing an image apart and generating the HTML code to put it back together again.
