I shot these awhile back for a friend, he uses them for his online dating photos. I used a Canon 10D,17-40L and 50mm 1.8...What do you think?

Well, he's not my type, but I imagine that those photos far exceed the normal standard of photos on the average dating site.

Love the last one especially. 8) I'd say you've given him an advantage over the other guys on the site.

Green is a shirt color that tells most people that you are not trustworthy. It's one of those weird subjective marketing things (you will never see a good salesman in green). I'd suggest he re-shoot with a different shirt.
Your images are nice but one shows his nose to be quite big. Looks like a slight wide angle along with too close proximity to the subject.

sure it's not really saying that any girls that don't get to go out with him would be green with envy over the girls that do?

I'd pick the last one. He seems most friendly and least menacing in that one. You know, this board is populated with guys....you should post this where you'd get more feedback from women. What do we know about guys? :p

the last one is definitely the best... i agree with pradeep1 that he looks kind of menacing in the other ones. it shows he has nice teeth, and that's always a plus! his pose and his smile make him look relaxed and easy going. hope his dating expeditions went well... lol i'd date him--he's a cutie.
but tell him to lose the green shirt... or be a friend and steal it from him and secretly burn it. :)

They are good.... But the 2nd, could you not just a easily replace him with David Copperfield? It looks like Vegas magician photo :) with the lighting and the black clothes

Can't say they do much for me.....No 2 could be really good with a cape and some glitter, though

Given the purpose, just tell him, "the last is best, lose the rest"
BTW, I think you did a good job on the lighting on the second shot. 8-)

Honestly, the first two make him look pretty creepy, lol.
Last two (especially the last one) are nice

I kinda like them all. LOL Third and fourth are more my thing though. And yes, better than the average dating pics online (yeah, yeah, I admit I used to be signed on to Match.com).
Never even reacted on the green shirt until I read all the comments. Had to scroll up to look at it. Still don't feel it's that bad. I'd react tons more if it w as a Hawaii shirt or a pink one. Pink is strangely fashionable over here past few years.
The pics are good, he looks clean, well-shaven and if he chose those clothes, I dig his fashion-sense. If he's also nice, has humour and not shorter than me, I'd date him. :)

Like most already stated, the last picture is best.
All are not exactly bad, but
... he looks a bit creepy in the first (maybe the green shirt  )
... his nose is too prominent in the second
... and the third one calls for the 'how short is he' comment (my initial thought on that picture was ...
'behind me you can normally see my helicopter, but it's in for maintainance just now' )
In the fourth one, he really looks fresh and honest.
Do you have some more?
Best regards,
Andy

Green is the "in" color this season. I think more women would think he is in style than not trustworthy. Just my thoughts.

The last one is my favorite because it looks natural. The others did not to me.

I agree with Claire.......he looks "gay". Not saying that's bad in ANY way, but that's just the vibe I'm getting from some of the poses and his dress.
And I think it's the shadow on the left side of his nose in the 2nd pic that makes it look a bit longer than it is.
Kevin, are those all lit with just an onboard flash??
kevinray29

actually he is "gay" ;) ....nope all those were used with 2 Lowell pro lights. No flash, I try not to use flash...not a big fan. I would rahter light my subjects with lights.

Ahhh, ok. Sorry I was right girls!
Yeah I thought your lighting was a little 'too good' for just an onboard flash of any type! But the 'outdoor' scene threw me off a bit! In any case good pics!!

My question was going to be...He is short isn't he? Not that there is anything wrong with that.
The pictures on the other hand....something to be proud of for sure. Great comp and light.
