I have a Kirk LRP-1 Long Plate which is, unfortunately, far too long to use with my 15mm on my 5D. About 4-5cm of this plate protrudes out in front of the lens and clearly shows in the pictures.
To take panoramas and qtvrs with my 15mm, I've used my Kirk LP-41, Wimberley Sidekick and Kirk BH3 Ball head to make an, in my view, satisfatory pano head. Unfortunately, the LP-41 from my 100-400mm is just too short to get the turning point under the nodal point of the lens, and I keep having to screw/unsrew it to/from my 100-400mm.
I currently have no other uses for the LRP-1.
Should I sell the LRP-1 or take a metal saw to it to shorten it so I can use it?
If I sell it, what would you recommend I replace it with?
