Which would be better for a 20d? I would like to get as many continuous shots as possible, especially because I shoot in RAW and would like to have more than just 6 shots before the buffer fills. Although I could also just shoot JPEG when I need those extra shots...

Neither will make a difference in filling the buffer. The Extreme III will be marginally faster in clearing it again, but not a whole lot. Rob Galbraith's CF test for 20D (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=7700-7303). I think (but can't find Rob's XTi page any more) the Extreme III would make more difference in the XTi. You'l have to get up to the 40D for the faster card to make much difference, but if you're planning on buying a newer model in the not-too-distant future, getting the faster cards now "future-proofs" you.

Since Circuit City is going out of business next week I thought
I would go buy and see if they had any Extreme III cards.
They were all out, however they had Ultra cards in stock, I
think they were 2gig cards for $24.00. I went across the street
to Best Buy and picked up two EIII cards at $40.00 each.

In camera, they perform the same speed wise. The mainly difference between EIII and UII is that EIII is SLC, UII is MLC. You can look up in google what they means. The simple true is SLC is better in speed, data retention and cycling durability. MLC gives up the above, although not by much, for lower cost of manufacturing. So you should get SLC flash whenever you can, in this case, EIII, especially if the cost is the same.

I've had great results with the Extreme III cards, in both my XSi and my 50D. Seems like that is about par. Anybody know anything about the new Extreme IV?

I just bought 2 4gb Ultra II's at Staples last week for $19.99 each. I couldn't resist. If you have a good card reader, it's not that bad. Oh, if I had unlimited money, I'd get all Extreme IV's, but right now, any good memory for my new 5DII is worth it. It only take 120 images on RAW with 4 gb.
