Bounce flash (430EX) off the wall behind me 18-55mm. Not looking to publish them... just memories of my son and friends at 10 years old. Thought I would share. I shot last week and these are much better. Your replies in last weeks post said increase my shutter speed... so I did. Still looking for C/C so get more keepers.

For the record Us 48/ Them 4

1. My lil guy... (proud Dad comment to come) point leader at 22 this game.

2. He makes the shot and did a bellyflob heard 'round the world when he hit the floor.

Probably about as tight as the 55 can shoot? If you can get closer to the action, do that for sure! I'm noticing that the players are only a small portion of the total image. Better if they're the center of attention!

Even at HS games, nobody ever bothers me sitting/squatting right on the baseline trying to get good 'in-close' action shots.

Thanks Dave. I am sitting against the wall about 4' back from the baseline. I will move up next time and see if it makes the pictures a little tighter.

These look really good. Did he win the game?

Keep in mind with a wide angle you don't always need to have the hoop in the frame to make a good photo. Shoot tighter on the players and look for players driving toward hoop or shooting. Also, sit on the floor and shoot up toward the players and you will get a much better perspective with the wide lens. Here is a quick example shot with my EFS 17-55f2.8. I was sitting pretty much on the baseline, under the basket, to one side of the key. Cropped in post processing as well:
