I think I'm jinxed with this particular loco, the last time I tried to photograph it the fog came down and this time the light was terrible.

I took this one the day before at the same location in great conditions, sods law applies! :rolleyes:

Both shots were taken with a 40D + EF-S 60mm F/2.8 macro.
The second shot was hand held and I used a polariser.

I like the first one best, it seem's to suit the shot (cold winters morning). the reflection of the sky on the front of the boiler shows up really clearly.

They are both good, each has it's winning points. I would be very happy to have captured those moments. You have the touch when it comes to steam and trains. Thanks for sharing.

I think I like the steam one the best (especially since someone dug out that post for you!). No seriously, I think they both work well, it just that I can almost feel the cold in the first one and can imagine the steam engine working hard up the grade. They're both very nice photos.
