That is one cool shot (big lens or nerves of steel?)
Have you tried a crop with no rock showing?

Nice shot. I agree a tighter crop may also be interesting.

Cropping down is a great idea. I'll try it. Thanks for the comments, everyone. The shot was taken with my 75-300 IS lens, through glass. I'm surprised it was as sharp as it turned out. As far as the snake type, it was at the zoo and I was near the cobra family of snakes, so it might be one of those; definitely not the KIng Cobra, but a sub-species, perhaps. I'm racking my brain trying to recall more, but that's pretty much all I remember about it.

Nice photo. I'll hazard a guess and say that it is an Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis), which is in the same family as the cobra - Pseudonaja actaully means false cobra.

Ok, I think I need help cropping. I did a couple and I just don't know if I've improved it. Anyone volunteering to give it a shot? I had the idea to crop it as a portrait (which I found more pleasing than the horizontal) but I'm still now sure. Thanks, everyone!

I like that, cmM. I think I was being too aggressive and cropping too tight and ended up not liking mine because I lost too much detail. :o
