Legendary Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen performing in front of 11,000 fans at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. I had one song to shoot and it was from the sound board - all shot with 400 f5.6L on a monopod and 1D Mark III - all had to be cropped fairly heavily.
C&C encouraged and more can be seen here (http://www.photos.blackshadow.com.au/gallery/7311197_xbDmq/1/470214543_GZ9C6).

Very cool...3 is really nice. You don't see too many Leonard Cohen shots.

I like #3 and 4 expression wise, but it's a pity the guy is in the background. More so since you had to stand so far back: He almost looks larger then Leonard Cohen

These are pretty good results for the conditions and lens used...
I'm so unsteady that even in daylight, it's tough for me to get keepers, when hand held with the 400mm f/4.6...
It's my most successful lens though, especially for birds and wildlife, lurking in the shadows of the local forest.

love 3 richard :)
I shot Mr Cohen under the same conditions at A Day On The Green (1st song, from the sound board) except that it was outdoors and hand held 70-200 IS on my 5D.
I found it hard to shoot as I was in tears watching the man, hence I only got a few decent shots, this one being the pick. (cropped obviously).
Something about the nature of this tour (his manager taking all his cash and leaving him with nada) and the amazing presence he has on a stage left me in a emotional state similar to when the Pixies opened with Bone Machine on their first tour to Australia.

Yep.
Saw the last concert in the Netherlands of The Pixies before they quit, saw them again at LowLands two years back: Gooseflesh :)

Oddly enough, I first fell in love with Leonard's music far from Canada. I spent some time in the Netherlands, and when I first went over to meet my girlfriends parents, they had Leonard and neil going to make me feel at home.
Since then, he has become my favourite artist of all time. Even though I very much prefer his 'younger' voice, I would love to see a concert now!

Heavily centered on all of them, but 3 isn't bad.
