Thought I'd share a few shots I took at the Pro Bowl. Geez, was it HOT! Bright sun, no wind and higher than normal humidity in the lower stands. Must'a been in the high 80's, and at half-time I passed the infirmary and there were quite a few people being treated for heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

I had to leave at half-time to pick up my kids that I left at Makaha where they were surfing some really nice clean 3-4 foot waves and never got a chance to get back to the Stadium.

Wendo, what were you shooting with?

Wendo, what were you shooting with?

I used a 1D3/100-400 suction pump combo and I was seated about 15 rows from the sideline.

There was this really nice guy sitting next to me who was using the same lens but was using a 5D II body. I noticed he was geting some nice shots with that combo as we were having fun chimping each other's shots, but he did mention the slow burst rate on it. He said he also has a 1D3 but just purchased the 5D II and wanted to see what it could do at the game.

The bright overhead sun and the bright white parts of the players uniforms caused a lot of blowouts to occur in a lot of my shots, which cost me a lot of time post processing that stuff out. Hardly any overcast diffuser to take advantage of either as clear skies prevailed until I left.

Check out the detail I got from shooting this cheat sheet about 50 ft. away attached to the network's vid cam operator's boom that was traversing the sidelines.

Not a real big fan of the Pro Bowl game, But I'm sure it was nice to be there in Sunny Hawaii, the shots look great.

Good stuff, Wendo. At the Ohana Day (Saturday) I was in the 6th row from the sideline with my 1D3/300 f4 IS and I was pretty unhappy with my shots. Most of it due to the harsh sun and strong shadow combination all over the field.

Hey, thanks for the kind words guys! I forgot to mention that I was shooting through those misting machines alot, and when I started post processing I forgot about that and treated the misting as haze, so I sort'a got overzealous with contrasting and saturation in an attempt to compensate for the "haze" I thought I was getting. Oh well, live and learn.

Man, was I ever impressed with the abs on that jaguar cheerleader, so much so that I waved her down to look my way and got a nice keeper as a bonus.:)

Oh yeah, I found out today the comp Pro Bowl ticket I used was courtesy of Canon USA, Inc.

Is it just me or did you really pp the shadows it these shots? They look very flat to me.
