Tried to go to the zoo on Friday to break in my 75-300mm, but guess what? We never made it! Here's why!

Ahh wonderful Friday traffic! I went to Zoo Atlanta early on a Thursday morning. You should also check out Oakland Cemetary just up the road from the zoo(if you haven't already).

It was about 4pm... I didn't think rush hour would be a) so early and b) going into Atlanta!
I don't go into Atlanta much, so I've never been to the Oakland Cemetary. I live way out by the Mall of Georgia.

Looking at this a very strange thought poped into my head, How long can those concrete mixers be stuck in traffic before they start to harden?

They continue to turn the barrel.

^Yeah. The cement never has a chance to set because it's always moving inside there.

Sometimes its good to live in a town of 9000 population.

For real.
You wanna know what was holding everyone up, aside from there being about a billion people here? ONE stalled van in the middle lane. Yep. After we passed that one stalled van it was a lot clearer & we could actually move at the speed limit. Craziness.

Yeah, this place rivals LA in traffic nightmare's. They routinely shut down all lanes of an interstate for an accident. Sometimes it's justified, but mostly not. I try to avoid venturing too far inside I-285, for fear of never getting back out.

Nope, it's 85 going through downtown. That was near the GA Tech exit.

Traffic gets pretty bad here too (Bay Area, CA).

I used to spend quite a bit of time in Atlanta. While I liked the city and the surrounding area, the traffic drove me nuts. I see it hasn't improved.

I used to live/work/school in Atlanta for almost 12 years. Atlanta's population and urban sprawl boom has caused the infrastructure to creak under the weight. It wasn't so bad in the 1980s but after 1992 onwards, it has gotten worse every year. Atlanta went from being a sleepy Southern town to a booming metropolis and now we are paying for it. I remember I lived in Snellville (about 20 miles from downtown) and had to commute to downtown every day. It took me 1.5 hours going and 1.5 coming. 3 hours on the road everyday! I remember that I listened to something equivalent to the Harvard literature bookshelf in a period of about a year. Just to give you an example, I finished the unabridged version of Dune in like two weeks...10 days on the road! Now we live in Augusta and the worst commute is about 15 minutes to go anywhere in town in heavy traffic. :)

So you have Interstate parking lots there also.   Thankfully I can take back roads to and from work and must places. I try to avoid our Interstates at all cost. for that very reason.. back roads get bad enough at rush hour. to small a state to many people.

I'm glad I don't have to commute every day. I live in Sugar Hill and work in Suwanee, which is 5 miles down Peachtree Industrial. It takes me roughly 15 minutes to get to work each day. I can barely get through three songs on a CD before I'm at work already.
Thank God, too, because my boyfriend's dad used to commute from exit 120 (Hamilton Mill), to the CNN building, and that must've been pure hell.
Fer!
