430EX II with old Pentax SLR

I've just bought an old Pentax ME Super SLR for a bit of fun shooting b&w film. I was going to buy a cheap flash unit off ebay but I was wondering if my 430EX II would work with the Pentax? I don't think there is much risk of the Pentax getting fried but I'm more worried about the 430EX II getting damaged.

Any advice appreciated.

It would only work in manual mode.

You're better off with an old automatic flash such as one of the vintage Vivitar models.
