I like them. I think you got the "pan" pretty close to right in #3 - maybe a touch more would help the others (I'm just a rookie, and it is better than I can do).

Shutter speed looks pretty good since the wheels still have enough motion blur.

One of my favorite pictures of my car was taken at TWS (not by me though). Good work, and I can't wait until the next HPDE near me so I can practice with the camera (since I probably won't drive that day).

Are you referring to picture #3 or Race Car #3? Cause i thought those were probably 2 of the best i took.

I think you did great for your first visit, you'll probably get some great tips in this thread so definitely be sure to take notes and toss'em in your camera bag cuz you wont remember them.....trust me!

On your second trip, Id definitely experiment with slower shutter speeds to get those wheels blurred, it just adds to the effect of a fast moving vehicle. Learn the track well enough to know where your compass points are and be aware of the sun's location at all times so you dont wind up with mad glare like with the copper vette above (unless you're wanting that) and lastly be aware of the backgrounds, find the most pleasant points to shoot with minimal obstructions/distractions and go for it.....sometimes just changing your elevation (ie. standing on something, kneeling, etc...) can improve a spot. Just something to think about.

First off ... yes, that Skyline GTR was awesome! and let me tell you, it was smoking some of these porsches on the straits!

yea, I agree that i want to try an even slower shutter speed on some shots next time ... i was able to get a little blur on most of these shots, but when i tried to slow it down to get more blur i ended up getting an overexposed shot (really bright). I still need to play around a little more with the track. my next event is actually going to be a motorcycle track day ... so we'll see how that goes!

oh yea ... and that copper vette shot ... I was trying to get the reflection off of it the way i did. i dont know, i just loved the way the sun shined off that copper for some reason!

If you're getting overexposed shots when using slower shutter speeds then your settings are off. And just be aware when using slow shutter speeds your 'panning technique' becomes critical.

Im still fairly new to all this but made some decent strides this past yr.....your welcome to check out my motorsports folder on my site to see the few keepers I have when using slower shutter speeds.....both bikes n cars.
