How is this landscape shot? I am not sure what to think about it, CC appreciated.

I like the color and scenery. My personal preference for landscapes is to see them wide as opposed to tall. If this were my photo I would probably crop off a bit of the sky, then crop up from the bottom to a point which left the tops of the brown evergreens.

Landscape mode would be better.
Flip your image around to see if your eye goes to the same place
as it should if you have a good point of interest.

Yes, that's why they call it the landscape mode or landscape format. It is the preferred orientation.

However, I look at which lens you used and it was apparently the 55-250 mm, set to 131 mm -- which means that you could have gotten the same vertical field of view as here except that the width would be way beyond what you wanted. You have my sympathy - I don't see how you could get what you wanted from this vantage point without using the vertical format.

Congratulations on a great shot!
