I'm going to be taking some flower pictures for my daughter's nursery (who is due in about 4 weeks) and wanted some suggestions on taking macro shots of flowers. So far I haven't been excited with what I've come up with. Some ideas of how you like to shoot macro of flowers would be helpful. I did a search but didn't really find much.
Also, I've checked out the photo thread, but if you don't mind sharing some of your shots for ideas, that would be great as well.

Jeff81,
It really depends on you, your subject, lighting, and the scene. One idea is trying to use your flash (or external light source) external from the camera to adjust your lighting ex. back or side lighting.
Here are some examples of using my flash off camera to control the light angle with flower photos

Jeff81,

yeah, I think that's part of the problem. I'm not quite sure what I want to achieve. I'll be printing 8x10's and I know I want bright colors, but other than that I'm really not sure. I'll see if I can post some examples of what I think I might want to do later tonight.
I was partially hoping to get ideas from other members, but I didn't quite get the response I was hoping for...probably partially due to the broad question.

Control the lighting. Use a strobe or two coupled with a hotshoe flash. Bounce them around the room and you'll get something you like. Play with it to meet you expectations.
