Right, I know nothing about small cameras

but a work colleague wants to buy one with a budget of around £100; I advised her Canon or Nikon, just for the software on some of our computers; despite the fact we all have card readers. Any ideas?

Take a look at the A590IS from Canon. As easy or as sophisticated as wanted, takes AA batteries, SD cards, captures nice images.
