Spent a cracking day in the Forest of Dean with Mr Ponsford and Rich on Saturday, although it felt more like the Arctic at times! Struggled a bit having never shot in the snow before but didn't let that get in the way of fantastic days rallying in extremely challenging conditions for drivers.
I haven't done a great deal with these in PS, just some cropping, sharpening and a little boost in the colours & contrast for some.

#8 I'm a bit undecided about this one, I snapped it as we were heading back to the car in the gloom so it was a bit rushed. I sort of like it as it shows how tough it was for the tail-enders as the light was going, but wish the car was a bit sharper.

These were all shot with a 40D & Canon 70-200 f2.8.
All comments welcome as always,
Rhodri.

I really like #4.
If I had F/2.8 to play with I'd use it all the time cause I really like the DOF it creates...

Hi Rhodri,
What's occuring ?
Really good to meet and have the craic ,and wander the forests, and indeed what a day ,Fantastic fun,and you have shot some crackers here ,real top notch stuff.
The Elsmore shot is terrific ,brilliant action showing why he won ,real commitment and bravery.
I like the O'Brien shot, and I know it was very murky for light then,as was the Voodo Escort shot.
Love the lighting on the Middleton shot ,have one a little similar.
Now all I have to do is show a few differant shots.:D
Regards,
"Mr Ponsford":D

Very nice shots, crisp action and I love the sunlit forest background in #7. And yes, #8 would be better if the car was sharper.
PS! I shoot with a 40D & 70-200 f2.8 combo too ;)

Nice set. No7 again, looks good with light in background. Some nice action in the other shots also. Like where you were going with no8, as you say, pity it's not a bit sharper.

Cheers Chris, thoroughly enjoyed the day and looking forward to Epynt on the 22nd already.
Agree about Elsmore, I must have seen at least half a dozen shots of him hitting snow banks etc. He seemed to be riding his luck but can't fault his bravery and commitment.

Thanks Tessa, I'm still getting to grips with the combo as this was only the second time out with it; although my results were much improved here I think.

Thanks Davy, agree re the light in 7 - the sun was very low in the sky which created a nice glow where it came through the trees.

#4 and #5 Rhodri are great shots
Take a look at your shots from 12 months ago and see how far you've come

Cheers Ant, strangely enough I had a look earlier at some shots I took on the Red Kite and the Wyedean last year - I actually laughed at them they were so bad, so it's quite satisfying to see I've improved a bit.

Rhod.

You've got some great shots there Rhod. I particularly like #2 with the Mitsubishi Evo throwing up the snow.
Nice work :D

Was good to meet you at the weekend Rhodri. The photos look great. Seems like you found a lot more action than I managed despite being fairly close all day. I think the B&W shot still works OK. It probably would have been better if the car was in focus or the focus point was further in front of the car making the track the initial point of interest but it's still an interesting image.
