Well now...that leaves me looking like a fool, doesn't it ;) haha...I have a feeling bjordan will get a few votes without mine, so I'll leave my original 3 standing and add that bjordan's is awesome too...and so it sue's...again, I didn't even think about it 'cuz of the lack of major ice...

ok I am pretty sure that it is after noon GMT, unless I got the wrong time from google, anyway I just wanted to say that everyone did a great job, I wish I could have gotten out and grabbed a shot last week but didn't have a chance. That being said I wanted to say
I absolutely loved sue t.s shot, I just imagine walking through the woods and coming up on this scene, yeah there are some things that I think could be better, but the scene is just so great to me. An awesome picture Sue t. I even made my wife look at it the first day I saw it posted here :D

Um ... so what do I do now? This is the first time I've entered a challenge and I'm not sure of next steps. From my reading and extensive research, I understand that I post the topic for the next challenge? Does that happen immediately with the entry deadline to be March 2? Or do I wait a few days and then the entry deadline is March 9? -- on edit ... no worries ... sorted it out with a bit more "research".
BTW, I am absolutely enthralled that a shot taken with my A70 was enjoyed by the majority. I had the A70 that day because it was chilly out after a snowy night and that little camera is easier to tuck into a pocket than my S5IS. A few days later all the snow had fallen from the trees and the look was entirely different.

As I have found there really are no rules for the challenge. I was told in no uncertain terms that it is up to us. Most people are simply doing a copy of the challenge page and pasting it into a new topic. Then change the parts that are necessary for the new challenge. You can do one week for entries or two weeks for voting, what ever seems good to you. Things seem to have settled into a quick start to the new topic with the end time the following Monday, with another week for voting. I try to go with a topic that is a little more generalized to allow for more entries. Anything you choose is ok since after all it is your call. Bring it on!
PS: Congratulations on a great photo. Ken

Congrats Sue, what a fairy tale of a shot.
Thanks for the votes everyone, this one was really a "speed challenge" for me because I had no ice pics at all (pun intended). First, I was going to take a picture of all the frost in my freezer lol. Then I froze a cookie sheet to try and do something like traildad's but didn't get anything remotely interesting. How did you do that? I liked it a lot.
Finally I took the Friday before the deadline off to relax, and it stormed all morning. When it broke, there was snow up on the mountian so I drove up!

Sue, my wife and I loved your shot too. Congratulations, being third to that shot is an honor.

elfieh: I was hoping that the subject would lend itself to the speed challenge idea. I am guessing that you had lots of subject matter to choose from. lol
hnikesch: I really like the colors in this one. Very peaceful.
dan_bgblue: I guess that is what happens in those ice storms where all the power goes out over the whole state. Cool.
barbazan: Definitely fits the subject. Did you have it on file or was it taken just for the challenge?
PhotoFranz: Very nice. It reminds me of something you would put together like dried flowers only all natural.
sue.t: This scene is perfect. I get the feeling that if you were to zoom out more you would find that it was taken of a snow globe. Great shot.
bjordan: Is this one b&w? It almost seems as though it is a little sepia tone or something. What ever it is, I think that makes the shot.
Biffarama: Cool tree. Was this one taken just for the challenge? I am guessing you also have lots of subject matter to choose from.
stanley_pope: Cool ice. It looks pretty thick. Stay warm.

Thanks. I took a piece of glass from a photo frame and froze some ice cubes to it in the freezer. I also put some freezer frost on it. Then I stood it on edge to shoot it. The ice warmed quickly and slid down the glass. I used my super macro setup to shoot the photos. The glass was leaning against some blue boxes. My remote flash was behind the glass with a diffuser. I was surprised to see that the flash carried the blue from the boxes into the ice. I posted a few other shots in the super zoom topic and here is a link to the rest of them.

Amazing the variety and creativity in all the shots, I would also be interested in the questions from Traildad, what shots were taken just for the challenge, I am new to the challenge and impressed with the consistently good shots from many of the participants
Good job to all, and hope to see many more in up coming weeks.

I was not planning on entering this challenge as most of the snow had melted around here and I had not seen anything interesting. My wife and I went to a small nature preserve near us and I saw the weeds in the ice and immediatly knew I would use that shot.

Thanks! Yes, after desaturation (planned when I shot it) I thought it needed a little warmth so I added a touch of a sepia-ish color. I was fortunate that the desaturation absorbed some of the lens flares below the cloud - they were much too distracting in the original.

It wasn't taken for the challenge. I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have a chance to walk around and find a good ice shot when I remembered that I had some pictures from and ice storm earlier this winter.
