100% crop of a RAW.
F9.0 1792mm
Sigma 80-400OS combined with a stacked 1.4x and 2.0x convertor from Sigma.
Tripod and mirrorlockup

Noise is due to the fact I by accident underexposed arround 2 fstops for the subject.
Had to do the test rather quickly because the weather was getting darker.

Possibly a roof vent, but the question is, how far away were you?

It is a roofvent indeed.

How far away ?
I estimate 50 mtrs.

I tried but it was too windy.
I will do it again don't worry, but the least bit of wind will destroy the setup.
