very slight blur of the background
darken the background
lighten the foreground
increase contrast
burning the coats of the dogs

The photo is showing a red X for me, but the link works fine. Nice dogs. :)

doesn't do anything for me. There is just nothing interesting going on in the shot. Perhaps a different angle would have help this shot considerably. Maybe with the dogs faces in the foreground with the guy blurred out in the background looking down on them?
