We drove around outside of Phoenix where there are a number of dairies and some farmland (unfortunately, these are disappearing fast). We took pictures of some red-winged black birds in the morning and found a small farm with a dozen cattle egrets roaming around with the cows.
On the way home, we found a field with a flock of birds. The lighting was poor and they wouldn't let us get too close, but I did manage to get this picture. I think it is an Ibis (gotta get a better field guide!).

The first one is a cattle egret.

The second one is hard to tell. It might be a curlew, or it might be a long-billed curlew.

These guys were about a foot tall and irridescent black. I really need a new field guide. I don't have curlews in mine.
