Need some feedback on my post processing. Really new at this so any help would be appreciated. The first picture was done with DPP and the second picture was done with Lightroom. At the moment I am leaning towards DPP, just because it is so much faster and easier to work with. However, Lightroom is full of features that DPP does not have...

The LR conversion looks sharper IMO, that doesn't mean I prefer it however.

The recovery slider for LR allowed me to sharpen up the bottom of the Ricoh tower. But in this case, I'm not sure if it really helps.

I have to agree with Minty...the second shot is a bit better.

One comment I do have here is that if you are looking to do something like weddings where you're going to be dealing with processing -a lot- of shots, then "faster" and "easier" is certainly something to consider. However with shots like this where you are dealing with stuff that really falls more into the "fine art photography" category, my opinion is to not worry so much about convenience and do whatever you need to do to make your images look their best. As you say, LR has a lot more tools (and Photoshop even more) and at least as seen here, you're image is better for it.

I know some folks hold with the "if you can't fix it in 5 minutes or less, it's not worth fixing" but I'm not one of them. Because I consider myself to be an artist as much as a photographer, I'll spend as much time as an hour or more (sometimes several hours) working on one single image just to get it the way I want it...-if- I think the image is worth it.

One other little note on the image itself. I would have had the Ricoh building in the center there straight...you have it leaning just a tich to the right. Since this shot is essentially "building a pyramid", having the center building off kilter like that throws the balance of the image off. Otherwise, I think it's a wonderful shot...lots for the eye to wander about and explore there.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim
