example post outline:

This is what the image looked like (blah, blah)
[embedded image]
but this is what it looked like after (blah, blah)
[embedded image]
as you can see in the second image (blah, blah)

I have tried various ways and no matter what was done, it always places the image(s) at the bottom of the post (not in context).

When you're posting, "Go Advanced" (well, you have to in order to attach images anyhow). Click on the little http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/editor/attach.gif paperclip. That'll allow you to attach the files you want to use. Then type along until you want to attach the image and click on the paperclip again. This time you'll see a drop-down instead of the pop-up upload window you got for uploading. Click on the image you want to put into the message at that point (I'll use "attach_image.jpg")
341606
and the code 341606 will be inserted. Type along some more and do the same for your other image
341602
and you can even go back and re-use that first one again if you like.
341606
. You can also call upon images you've previously attached by going to "Attachments" in your User CP and finding the one you want to re-use. Right-click on the file name you want, and treat it like you would any other image, using the http://photography-on-the.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=333085&d=1231611751 tags and see:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=333085&d=1231611751
your older attachment.
