AC Power adapter A40

I am wondering if I can use any power adapter for my A40 that puts out the the proper power specification, or must I use a Canon AC adapter?

As long as the amps are the same I see no reason why not. If the amp output is not the same do not use it.

I'm wondering why the sleazoids at Canon didn't include an adapter in the A40 box, since the manual explicity states you should have one in order to connect the camera to a computer.

Hmmmmm is there any other device I should consider connecting to other than a computer?

Its simply marketing, trying to keep the price in a reasonable range. I have no problem with them not including it as this camera is so reasonably priced, but at least tell me that any adapter will work!
