While these pictures are not great by any means, I think they turned out pretty well considering that I left any fast or expensive lenses home.

And considering you couldn't have been standing too steady while taking those pictures (if that's your hand), they are really good. I was recently forced to be a photographer by the family and only had access at the time to the kit lens. I got some shots I wasn't too disappointed with either.

I find the kit lens quite good
most of my best work has been taken with it.
I have no complaints with it

Yup, that is my hand. And trust me, Murphy was yanking on the stick pretty hard in the second shot. He feels that all sticks belong to him!
I don't think the shots are anything spectacular -- I just think they indicate that it's a pretty decent lens that sometimes gets picked on. The more I use it, the more I like it.

I love the kit lense. All of my macro and close-up shots are with the kit lense.
