I realy like macro shots and from what I can see in this shot you have found the right subject but the shot is too much out of focus... there is few possibilities in what might have gone wrong... I see you are already using the closeup lenses that's great because conon's macro capability leaves a lot to be desired... but maybe you forgot to switch it to macro mode (I used to to that for a while after I bought my camera)... another possibility could be the fact that you did not use a tripod... I always use a tripod when shoting macros and I also use a time release to completely eliminate possibility of handshake... the only time I do not use a tripod is when the light is very good and I can use a fast shutter speed. One more thing when shoting macros you always want the most DOF you can get and looking at your aparture setting I don't think it was set to the smallest you can get, at least f16 (I think) I don't really know what G2 settings are but I know it has to be smaller than f5, since you use tripod if it's too dark you just compensate with longer exposure... hope this helps a little... and keep shootiing
