Ok So Saturday I went to the Botanical Gardens. They were having an Orchid show, and I figured what better time to try out my Macro Lens than now right.

Anyway here is what my macro lens looks like .

Black with a black hood, I was walking around with it for like one hour, and noone even noticed it .. lol. I mean I got like one comment, where someone said wow that's a nice lens. lol.. (I didn't have the hood on).
However, once I went back around a 2nd time to use my 70-200 f4 to get some non macro flower images.

All of a sudden everyone would come out of the woodworks, and say "ohh I bet you can see spiders with that lens", or something to that effect. I got like at least 9 comments. It was hilarious. lol.

I know I remember people saying, " I couldn't image walking around with that big macro lens", but let me tell you the white L gets wayyyyyy more attention than the Black lens does, and they are both about the same length with out hoods.

Tamron 180 macro 3.5 . It's not as big as it seems. The Hood is pretty big, but without it, it looks like a pretty normal lens. The lens element ends where the hood begins.
It was odd because noone really noticed me with the lens, but when I switched and put on the 70-200 f4 .. lol ... Everyone that walked by me looked, or said something, or made a comment. It was hillarious.

While I realize there are certain drawbacks to attracting attention, I like the white lenses for the following reason:

When I go to sporting events, such as college or high school wrestling, high school football, lacrosse, hockey, etc, I can usually go where spectators cannot, as they immediately figure I'm press.

What other "nut" would have such a large lens?

I've even had refs come up to me and ask me what paper I shoot for.

The big lenses are white to prevent them being damaged from heat apparently. White lenses look damn tarty too!

Remember... black's slimming ;) It hides the shadows...
