Photo or Ball Head

I just got a new Manfrotto classic tripod, and I can't seem to decide what is the best head. I like the ball head because of it's size, but I also like the photo head for the controll and pan ability. What are the pro;s and con;s of each, and what do the pro's use?
I will be doing both portrait and field work.:rolleyes:

I think you've summed it up completely. You just have to decide which attributes are more important to you.
