My dad recently just got me and my family Phillies season tixs and I have an A85 with the wide converter made by canon.. Do you think I will be able to take good shots with this or should I use this as my excuse to finally get a DSLR? Any input is apperciated.

Depends on how close in the seats are. But I'd say to use it as your excuse to get the DSLR and maybe the 70-200 L, either f/4 or f/2.8. The A85 would be out of its league unless you're in the lower seats overlooking the infield, and only try to capture the side of the field you're sitting on. For anywhere else in the stadium or on the field, you'll want longer. And, the A85 has just enough shutter lag that you'll miss more than you catch, while a DRFX or 20D will respons almost instantly. Using manual focus on the A85 will help some, though.

don't bother with a P&S camera for arena type sports. U need big zooms for these. Go ask the fellow with the Canon camera and a 'Press' tag. ;)

Thanks for the input. Another stupid question.. I have the wide converter presently and if I zoom out the lowest I can get on Av is f4.8 if I get the teleconverter is that going to rise even more or will I be able to use it on f4.8 or possiblely f2.8??
