Well, I have possibly got myself thrown out of the house... I will not know for sure till the big brown truck pulls up.

I just pulled the trigger on a refurbed 40d 28-135mm IS usm combo through Adarama. Wished I could have went new but the extra 300 bucks was not an option right now.

Been shooting the ole 20d (a real workhorse) for quite some time now and it has started having some minor hiccups that I really do not want to deal with during important shoots so It will be moving to backup duty when the 40d arrives.

I have always had reservations about refurbed units, so everyone cross your fingers and send good vibes that this will be a good one :)

In my experience, and hearing of the experiences of many others, Canon Refurbs are usually top notch. But I wish you Good luck anyway! I'm debating on picking up a refurb 40D for myself as well. Although probably not for another month or so...

So far I am loving the low light capabilities of the camera.
this is at 3200 ISO

Are you noticing a good difference in low light capabilities of the 40D vs 350d?

I'm hoping to get a used or refurb 40D sometime this summer maybe. If I get out of my "photography rut" that is. I will probably be shooting a wedding in Sept and I'd really like having a second body this time around.

Never shot a 350, I am upgrading from a 20d Which had so so lowlight capabilities. The 40d blows the 20d out of the water.
The 20d's 800 ISO is like the 40d's 1600 ISO.

Opps, sorry I read the wrong poster, who mentioned 350d. Oh well, a 20D is probably very very close to XTi in terms of ISO.

I use ISO800 all the time and WANT to use ISO1600 alot more, but it's just a little too noisy and lacking detail so I avoid it if I can. If the 40D does ISO1600 well, that''s good to hear! :)

As you can see the 40d does 3200 ISO quite well. See the above photo of the cat.

From the original post, I had thought you were worried about the wife kicking you to the curb. I wanted to hear how that was going.
