I purchased my ef 70-200 f/2.8IS a few weeks ago and never really tested it out yet. I decided today was the day, clouldy low light and all.

I know I needed a little better focus on the eyes in that last one, or shot at f/5.6 maybe.
I have a few more if anyone so desires.

Nice pictures. What's with the eyes on the dog in picture #3?

I don't know if you're doing these for sale but you're about 100 times better than the couple who does it at my local park. Excellent candid portraiture work here.

Thanks, its just a hobby. I think most people get into animal photography because they love animals, not photography. So generally they don't tend to be very good photographers, and will shoot animals in cheesy positions.
I am a photographer that shoots everything, including animals. So composition in always on my mind. That makes sense right?

Thanks Will. The owner of the german shepherd is a friend from the park. He was a pilot for BP and lost his job. He was out of work for awhile, and I could tell it was really getting to him. He recently found a job, which pays less, but he is happy to be working. I can tell he is still a little down, so I took these for him. I hope they make him feel better.

Yan, unbelievable that last shot. You really have an eye for the right composition. I learn from your photography, trying to think about the composition. Here are 2 recent ones of two of my "kids". Not up to your standard, but trying....

Thanks for the kind words. I really like this first one, The second composition is good, that is just tough lighting especially with the color of the dog. Keep it up, it takes practice, at least it does with me.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the black dog, Jake, is always hard to get good shots. I tried that light nearby, but it's too harsh. Flash looks awful too. I'll just keep clicking away.....
