er...
What a freaking weird coincidence...
I never updated to the last Firmware that came out around December or maybe earlier...
So tonight I finally downloaded it as it fixed some low light focus speed issues...
Well,. of course I did NOT download the firmware I intended to,. I downloaded and installed this newer version ..
And I would have never known If i had not read this thread that it was even newer :)
So I skipped a step :)
All seems fine,. it didn't erase any settings or Custom functions etc.. and AF worked well with the 28-70mm f/2.8L in very low light.

Rumor has it the 1DsMkII firmwear upgrade fixes the lock-up problem reported by many. (or at least it seems to).
If I can remember when I get home, time to risk the upgrade. To me doing a firmwear upgrade always makes me more nervous then sensor cleaning.

heheh... :o well they could have at least renumbered the items. i was all excited when mills posted the link. but when i opened it and found the list of 'features' - it was kinda like finding out the gorgeous girl at the picnic is your cousin...
if it in fact helps with low light focus or 1dsmk2 lockups, they should state it!

The focus improvements were in fact in the last Firmware release,. which are included in this oe as well,. so if you are still using one year old firmware like I was,. you stll get the benifit of the upgrades that came with the 1.1.0 firmware.
It does list all of the improvements that are inclusive from previous updates,. you just need to scroll further down the page to see that list. ;)
As for "rumored" fixes,.. I can't see Canon being able to predict what rumors will be associated with there language patches, despite there ability to sofar ahead of the competition !
...so how could they state it?

I just tried the firmware upgrade on my 1dsmkII and it doesn't recognize the files on the card.
What am I doing wrong? When I downloaded it to my desktop, I then unzipped it. There were two files, one a bin file. I moved it onto a blank card and placed it in the camera and then turned it on. Nothing happened.

After turning the camera on, you need to go into the Menu and then select Firmware Version. Just follow the prompt from there.
