I just purchased a Canon Speedlite 550ex flash, which is my second one. Could someone tell me what my options are by having two. Is there a way that I can use both of them off the camera without spending a lot of money? Also, what type of stand do I need to purchase to house my speedlite when I use it off the camera? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Did the little stand come with the Speedlite? If so, it has a threaded mounting hole in the bottom. Many of the cheaper stands have the mounting screw/spigot permanently attached so you just screw it into the stand that came with your flash, then mount your flash into the shoe.
I'm not sure how much you want to spend on stands but the Impacts at B&H are pretty reasonable and lightweight. If you'll be outdoors with a modifier such as an umbrella or softbox, you'll want to weigh down the stand so it doesn't blow away. It doesn't take much wind to tip one over. If I'm in grass, I sometimes use those pet anchor screws (attaches to a dog lead/leash to keep them from wandering off) that screw into the ground and attache the stand to that with a bungy cord.

Put off camera flash in the search tool and you will get some good hits. This kit from B&H has everything you need for your stand. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/475575-REG/Impact__Digital_Flash_Umbrella_Mount.html
Then you have to figure out how you want to trigger your flashes. Read up on the Strobist sight http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html you will gain alot of knowledge!
