I have ordered a D60 with a couple of lenses. Need to get a good sturdy tripod to keep everything still and sharp. Had a couple of people suggest the Bogen 3221 tripod. Also had someone suggest the Bogen 3265 head. However, I have read that this head may not be too good for heavier camera set-ups. Any recommendations for tripods and heads suitable for the D60 and lenses (28-70 and a 70-200).

Much appreciated.

I use a Uniloc tripod with a Novoflex Magic Ball head, which I also use the Novoflex panaramic adaptor with their QuickConnect quick release. I could not be happier with this setup. The tripod can be adjusted to just about any position which includes inches off the ground and is as sturdy as you can want. It is considered to be an improvement to the Benbo tripod which the company founders had some role in developing so I am told. Not the easiest tripod to find but worth looking into. The Magic Ball has had great reviews but the suprise is the miniconnect. It holds very well and the plate that installs on the camera is actually like a disk about the size of a quarter that tales up very little and interfaces to the base very quickly and easily. There is a 2 step release that is used which makes unintentional releases just about impossible. Check the Novoflex site for more info. Good luck!

I'm using a Gitzo 1345 (metal) with the Gitzo leveling base and an Arca Swiss B-1 ball head. I also have a wimberly sidekick for long telephotos. Expensive, but solid. I did not go carbon fiber because when you add the weight of the ball head and leveling base, the percentage difference in weight didn't seem worth the money.
