I shot several beautiful oldies the other day for a friend, and had to get a couple of pans in the beautiful weather; I've never shot cars before, and my panning technique leaves a lot to be desired to say the least, so I'd like your comments on these and how you'd improve them either in pre- or post-process. Thanks for looking. :)

Did you want to freeze just the car or car and back ground?
If you notice in the first pic, the shutter speed and f-stop were faster. If you bumped up your speeds some more, you'll catch it ;)

I wasn't looking to completely freeze either the car or the background; I was panning, with a friend making passes for me (wasn't trying to "catch" it exactly, I knew it was coming ;) ) and was basically going for the effect I got in #1. #2 is a little slow on the shutter for sure, but I actually kind of like the way it came out. I may bump up the contrast there just a tad.
I know it's not the shiny, up close and personal shot that many of the greats post in this forum (granted, I am new here and have a lot to learn) but I was hoping for some constructive criticism on the captures and processing nonetheless.:)

I like the 1st shot better than the 1/6 sec one, but blurs are tough to get "just right" & I like them both. There are a lot of factors; speed, panning speed, distance, focal length, & shutter speed. Look at some of the shots I took at the Dream Cruise last year:
The official Dream Cruise - Saturday (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=554646) + the other links in there.
When you get around to shooting some static shots of it, read the Tips in my Sig.
