View Full Version : Auto bracketing and 5 exposures?

Is it possible? I see people saying that three exposures works well but 5 or even 7 is better yet. But my 40D only allows for 3 in one go. So is the way people are doing this to take 3 and then go to their auto bracketing and dial in another 3 at different stops? I'd be worried I would either move the camera or take so long that light or clouds/people have shifted.

I use exposure compensation to get 2 sets of 3; (-4, -2, 0) and (0, +2, +4). When I go to merge them, I discard one of the duplicate 0ev shots. Of course, this does require me to touch the camera, but I normally don't have any alignment issues if I am careful.

Its possible with a secure tripod head to set AEB and then use exposure compensation
to move the group of 3 bracketed shots to the negative side and push the remote shutter release
then move the 3 bracketed shots to the positive side, etc.
Also, the 1ds2 can be set to bracket 5 shots in one shutter press, for me another reason I got a used 1ds2 over the 5d2...
