I bought a Canon SX10 and have an EX420 flash on my way. I'm a beginner photographer and am hoping to practice a bit with using the external flash. I also have a baby on the way and am hoping to take some nice shots of her. I was wondering....
I see all sorts of diffusers for these external flashes. Are these necessary? I know its not good to use a direct flash when taking photos of infants, but with the 420EX, wouldn't I just angle the flash off a wall or ceiling? Or would it be better to use a diffuser too?
Also, if a diffuser is recommended...does it matter what brand? I see a lot of cheap ones on Ebay and also see some expensive ones.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
