Have no fear, we're here! ;) Sometimes it just takes a while for responses. Folks across the world in different time zones and all.....

About the image....well....hum... Looks good! You're new to image taking? Now you're going to tell us you are a pro aren't you. :) Seriously, from where I'm sitting the exposure, composition and focus looks very nice. Your model is beautiful with the sweetest smile. And that always makes for a good shot. I'd say nice job!

Wow! Thanks! I got my camera about a week and a half ago and this was in the first batch of photos I took of my daughters. I really need to learn all the pp stuff...photoshop is next on my list of purchases! I was thinking I need to figure out how to take out the red bar in the background...what do you think?

Hi and welcome!

You've captured a nice moment.

Your shot is composed well, focus looks sharp, and DOF is appropriate.

One thing to watch is your exposure. It may be my monitor but the shot looks slightly underexposed - to the point where the detail of girl's hair has been lost. You can certainly adjust this in post-production, but something to be mindful of next time you're shooting.

For what it's worth; I usually err on the side of underexposure if I'm not 100% confident of the result, with a view to correcting in PP. It is much easier to lift shadow detail out of a shot than it is to retrieve detail from a blown highlight!

the vignetting you used is not working for me, otherwise it looks good

The background can be changed but its always better to get a good background when shooting. The background is often just as important as the subject itself.

Just for your information. If you'd like to try PP until you make a purchase for something like Photoshop, etc. GIMP is free. You can do a search here on POTN to learn more. I use PS CS4 and haven't tried GIMP but there are many who use it regularly. The link is below. Also, if you haven't done a lot of PP you may want to try Adobe Elements as opposed to PS. It'll help get your feet wet without being overwhelmed. Just a thought.

Beautiful pic, much improved from the first one you posted, I found it a little too noisy. Focus is spot on. The light in this picture shows her beautiful skin tone and the smile just makes the picture pop. The only thing I could find fault wit if I had to be picky is her right arm. At first I though you had desaturated all color from her arm because of the little gray area to the bottom left of the photo. Quickly glancing at the pic It can almost give you the impression that the right arm is completely missing. Then I realized that she must have her arms swung out wide open at both sides like she was running to give you a hug.

I think you have gotten some great feedback already and don't need to say any more. I have to say though... Great job for your first batch of shots!
